Gallaudet Leadership Institute

The Gallaudet Leadership Institute will provide an array of formal leadership training programs culminating in the awarding of certificates and/or a certificate of completion. There are two distinct tracks within the program: (1) the Education and Human Service Leadership Development Program; and, (2) the Consumer, Family and Community Advocacy Program.

Scholarships for International Students

Shared Reading Project

The Shared Reading Project offers a program that teaches parents and caregivers how to read to their deaf children and provides strategies to use to make book sharing most effective. For more information about the project, visit Shared Reading Project website.

 

TecEds Project

The TecEds Project ( http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/TecEds/index.html)trains teachers and staff working with deaf and hard of hearing students to integrate technology into the instructional process.

The project also provides online resources including a software evaluation database ( http://clerccenter2.gallaudet.edu/stg/index.html), an activities database ( http://clerccenter2.gallaudet.edu/teceds/activity/) and copies of training materials used in the project ( http://clerccenter.gallaudet.edu/TecEds/training/materials/).

 

Technology in the Student Academic Center

University Civility Program

The University Civility Program, a campus-wide program, will assist students with issues related to social, moral and cultural civility. The program will include guest speakers and presentations as well as the development of a website.

 

An Academic Community of Learners

This project seeks to (1) establish learning communities for all developmental students; (2) create an environment of support for student development; (3) develop a learning center to serve all students; and, (4) foster collaboration among our culturally-rich and diverse student population.

 

National High School Academic Bowl

The National High School Academic Bowl sponsored by Gallaudet has two primary goals: (1) to encourage high schools nationwide to raise their academic standards and expectations for deaf and hard of hearing students; and, (2) to provide venues that create awareness of the abilities of deaf and hard of hearing students. Additionally, the Academic Bowl is a means for Gallaudet to extend its reach to bright deaf and hard of hearing students, thus serving as a recruiting tool for the University. Summer Bridge

The Summer Bridge Program is a live-in learning program consisting of academic, social, and cultural activities designed to prepare incoming freshmen for the demands of university life. Both three-week and four-week sessions are offered. Private support provides students with scholarship aid for payment of program fees, giving students the opportunity to better adjust to the university environment.
